About Val Love

I was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and raised in England (London and Reigate), and was taught as a small child to knit and crochet by my mother and grandmother.

 

For the last 30 years I have designed and published knitting and crochet patterns and books.

 

My goal is to create stylish patterns that are easy to wear, and to find the simplest way to construct them. All my patterns are beginner, easy or intermediate and most are in 6 sizes.

 

Each design is original and usually knitted or crocheted in natural fibers.

 

I am inspired by the feel and touch of yarns I find, trends I see on the street, window shopping in Manhattan and the natural color spectrum in New England year round.

 

After a design career in branding, based in London, New York and San Francisco I live in Manhattan with my husband, where we enjoy theater, museums and occasional trips to our cottage in Rhode Island whenever our schedules allow.
